As you know, Microsoft makes so many changes in Microsoft 365; it can feel almost impossible to keep up! 2020 presented Microsoft users with various digital workplace challenges. Most organizations were overwhelmed with deploying a remote working environment. Executives have/will continue to make real-time decisions when it comes to their organization’s internal communication plan. With the new year starting up, it is vital that organizations make the most of their Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise plan. The Microsoft 365 platform will be only as good as the communication structure, applied wisdom of the tools, and experts leading the digital workplace plan organizations. It can be challenging to keep up with what’s new and coming with Microsoft 365 with the dozens of apps and features accessible. This article will help you start 2021 on the right note and take full advantage of the changes that have recently occurred on Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Lists:
Microsoft Teams
Google Workspace gets Teams meetings – Now, it’s easy to schedule and join a Teams meeting directly from your Google Workspace calendar with the new Teams add-on. Make video calls, brainstorm together with a digital whiteboard, and stay connected across your school and work.
Channel calendars have arrived – Schedule meetings as a team with the new shared channel calendar. Now you can view all channel events in one location and add them to your calendar.
Have small group discussions with breakout rooms – With teachers and meeting organizers looking for ways to encourage meaningful conversation, a need for small groups to break out into smaller group discussions. Luckily, you can get just that with breakout rooms in Teams meetings. Organizers can learn how to set up breakout rooms via the Windows or Mac desktop app here.
Set the scene with Together mode – We’ve got new scenes for your next meeting in Together mode. So take your team from the auditorium to a world of 8-bit pixels, a winter wonderland, or under the sea. To change the scene once you’re in Together mode, select Edit in the bottom left corner of your meeting.
Publish a company-wide task list – Create and track work for your entire organization with the new task publishing feature in the Tasks app. Admins and managers can get full details on task publishing at Manage the Tasks app for your organization in Microsoft Teams.
Approvals app in Teams – Use the Approvals app in Teams to streamline requests and processes with teammates and partners. Create requests, view ones sent to you, a view all past approval requests in one place.
Microsoft Lists
Configure forms and rules in Microsoft Lists – Going beyond the out-of-box experience doesn’t always require coding or separate tools. With Microsoft Lists, you can further customize forms and notifications with a few clicks or a copy/paste of JSON code. Both capabilities are now rolling out into Microsoft 365.
Write rules as easy as point-and-clicking structured sentences – Create simple if/then rules based on changes to list information, set reminders, and send notifications. Users with edit permissions on the list can create and manage rules. Users with read-only permissions can’t create or manage rules. Once the feature is available to your users, they will be able to create a rule by selecting Automate and then Create a rule in the list command bar near the top of the page.
JSON list form customization: footer, header, body text – You can configure the list form in a list or library with a custom header, footer, and the form body with one or more sections with fields in each of those sections. The form configuration does not change the data in the list item or file; it only changes how the form is displayed to users who browse the list or library. Anyone who can create and manage views in a list can use form configuration to configure the form’s header, footer, and body with sections.
Microsoft Lists App for IOS Microsoft Lists is a Microsoft 365 app that helps you track information and organize your work. They are simple, smart, and flexible, so you can stay on top of what matters most to your team. Now you can track issues, assets, routines, contacts, inventory, and more to keep everyone in sync from anywhere while on the go with a personalized, mobile-first experience.
