How Microsoft Teams Premium Elevates the Platform
Microsoft Teams has quickly become a crucial tool for remote collaboration within and across organizations, with its robust functionality enabling users to instantly shares files, participate in web conferencing, and securely communicate with both internal and external users. We’ve discussed the difference between Microsoft 365 Teams, Groups, and SharePoint sites, so now let’s discuss Microsoft Teams Premium, a new offering coming to Microsoft Teams to further elevate the existing functionalities of the platform.
What is Microsoft Teams Premium?
Microsoft Teams Premium is a new offering that adds features to Microsoft Teams to make it even more personalized, intelligent, and secure. Whether you’re meeting one-on-one, joining a webinar, or attending a virtual appointment, Teams Premium allows you to easily create meetings that meet your specific needs, use AI to help take care of meeting minutes, and keep confidential meetings even more secure.
Teams Premium is the ideal solution for organizations looking to get the most of their virtual meetings. Teams Premium will be available as an add-on license for $10 per profile per month for customers with Microsoft 365, Office 365, or Microsoft Teams essentials (Azure AD). Let’s dive into how Teams Premium differs from Microsoft Teams Standard.
What Features Does Teams Premium Offer?
Teams Premium offers a variety of features to support the advanced digital demands of your business, including:
- Personalized meetings for every audience
Take advantage of new meeting guides to automatically schedule the right type of meeting, whether it be a webinar, appointment, all hands, or daily stand-up. Use custom backgrounds and logos to infuse your brand into virtual meetings. - AI-powered meetings
Use AI to generate an intelligent recap of the meeting to assign tasks. Get automatically generated summaries and personalized recording highlights to easily catch up on meetings. Easily absorb key information by searching transcripts and using live translated captions. - Enhanced security
Safeguard confidential information by automating meeting protection with sensitivity labels, deterring leaks by watermarking shared content and video feeds, and enhancing end-to-end encryption for meetings that require a higher level of protection.
- Advanced virtual appointments
Send customers pre-appointment SMS reminders, customize a branded lobby room, take advantage of chat capabilities for all scheduled appointments in one location, and view aggregated outcome reports and trends to drive better customer experiences. - High-quality webinars
Join a virtual green room to socialize and prepare with other presenters, send automated reminder emails before a webinar, and streamline registration workflows by enabling a waitlist and manual approval of registrants to manage registration demand and capacity.
While Microsoft Teams itself is a robust tool that streamlines instant communication across organizations, Teams Premium takes things to the next level by introducing new personalized experiences for each type of meeting to help deepen connections and engagement with internal and external audiences.
When is Teams Premium Available?
Microsoft Teams Premium will begin to officially roll out in early 2023, with additional intelligent features making their debut in the first half of 2023. IT admins, however, can enrol in the Teams Premium preview now and activate a free Teams Premium licensing trial, currently available through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
The free Teams Premium trial licenses are good for 30 days, after which customers with Microsoft 365 licenses can get Teams Premium as an add-on in February 2023.
