Enhancing Employee Experience with Microsoft Viva Pulse

The Microsoft Viva suite of products is designed to enhance employee experience, and one of the newest additions to the suite is Microsoft Viva Pulse. Viva Pulse, now available for customers worldwide, empowers managers and team leaders to gain insights into how their teams are doing in real time. Let’s dive into what Microsoft Viva Pulse is and how it can help your organization.

What is Microsoft Viva Pulse?

Microsoft Viva Pulse uses templates backed by research to enable teams to seamlessly share their experiences and suggestions, which empowers leaders to pinpoint what is and isn’t working and where to focus. Viva Pulse allows managers to use team and project-based surveys, both in Microsoft Teams and on the web app, to request confidential feedback and quickly take action based on that feedback.

Viva Pulse is designed to be a lightweight feedback solution that can empower managers and team leaders to gain real-time insights into how their teams are doing and use these insights to further enhance and elevate employee experience and productivity.

Benefits of Viva Pulse

Microsoft Viva Pulse can simplify your role as a manager in a variety of ways by enabling you to:

  • Quickly receive feedback
Viva Pulse enables managers to easily ask the right questions to effectively drive team success. You can request ad-hoc feedback on topics to better understand the challenges your team is facing and address them in a timely manner. You can also use pre-populated survey templates backed by research to zero in on important topics, as well as customize these templates.
  • Get timely analysis
Viva Pulse enables managers to maximize impact by gathering vital feedback quickly. You can access a snapshot of team sentiment, aggregated to ensure confidentiality, that gives you quick feedback and suggestions for actions, if necessary. Automatic sentiment analysis saves you time, allowing you to focus on what really matters.
  • Act on recommendations
Viva Pulse enables managers to take recommended steps to address the team’s needs. You can leverage recommended actions to make necessary changes based on results you gather from employee feedback. You can easily see progress on employee feedback surveys over time to see if employee perspectives are being heard.

Roles in Viva Pulse

In the Microsoft 365 environment, users can have one of the following roles for Viva Pulse:

  • Feedback author
Users assigned the feedback author role can send Viva Pulse requests to direct reports, team members, or other users across the organization. They can then view the feedback results of their Pulse request and share the report with stakeholders.
  • Feedback provider
Users assigned the feedback provider role are the users in the organization that receive Pulse requests. They can then respond to Pulse requests and provide the feedback necessary to facilitate aggregation of data and reporting of insights.
  • Viva Pulse admin
Users with the Viva Pulse admin role can configure Microsoft Viva Pulse for end users, feedback authors and providers, from within the Viva Pulse admin experience. Only a Microsoft 365 Global Admin can assign a user as a Viva Pulse admin.

By assigning an admin, feedback authors, and feedback providers for Viva Pulse, you can start using Viva Pulse to easily pinpoint what’s working well across your organization and where improvements need to be made.
