New Feature: Teams Channel Moderation

Channel Moderation is a new Office 365 feature. Microsoft will begin rolling this feature out soon.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 51786

How does this affect me?

Team owners can turn on moderation for a channel to control who can start new posts and reply to posts on that channel. Team owners can also add team members as moderators. These channel moderators can also control the settings and give moderator capabilities to other channel members.

Microsoft will be gradually rolling this out in late July, and the rollout will be completed worldwide by the end of August.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

This feature is off by default and there is nothing you need to do to prepare for this change. You may want to update your training and documentation as appropriate.

Microsoft is moving all online services to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2+ to provide best-in-class encryption, and to ensure our service is more secure by default.

Keeping on track with this promise – Office 365 will be retiring TLS 1.0 and 1.1 starting June 1, 2020.

How does this impact me?

Starting June 1, 2020, Office 365 will begin retiring TLS 1.0 and 1.1. This means that all connections to Office 365 using the protocols TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 will not work.

What should I do to prepare for this change?

Update or replace clients and devices that rely on TLS 1.0 and 1.1 to connect to Office 365, prior to June 1, 2020.

Microsoft is updating SharePoint hubs so site owners can now associate their sites with a SharePoint hub.

This message is associated with Office 365 Roadmap ID 53903.

How does this affect me?

Previously, associating with a hub site required site collection, admin privileges. Microsoft is updating this permission so site owners can associate their sites to a hub. This provides a more consistent experience across SharePoint. Hubs can continue to be scoped or set to the public as before. No other changes are being made.

Microsoft will gradually roll this out to selected customers in a Targeted Release in early August. The worldwide roll-out will be complete by the end of September.

Five SharePoint authoring enhancements are scheduled for deployment.

Drag and drop files to the canvas. SharePoint authors will be able to upload images to the Canvas using drag and drop. SharePoint will automatically add the file viewer and upload the file to the document library.

Link preview. We’ve also added a rich preview for links pasted into the text editor to embed videos from Stream and YouTube links or images with title and description from other links.

On page anchors. SharePoint will support anchor links, which allow readers to jump to a specific part of the page.

Undo/Redo. SharePoint authors will have the option to undo changes prior to saving or publishing.

Vertical sections. Modern pages can now have vertical sections.

We will begin rolling out these enhancements in Targeted Release during July 2019, and the rollout will be completed worldwide by the end of October.
